Navara Rice

Navara rice is one of the several varieties of rice found in India and a rare grain plant in the Oryza tribe. It emerged somewhere in Kerala, where it is considered to be endemic. With a taste characterized as slightly sweet and astringent, its healing properties can be improved by different combinations and preparations to fit the requirements. For example, boiled Navara is a good weaning food for children, particularly those with low weight.Carbohydrates, fats, apparent amylose relative, fatty acid profile, and Njavara triglycerides were similar to Jyothi and IR 64. However, Njavara rice was 16.5 percent higher in protein and contained higher levels of thiamine (27–32 percent), riboflavin (4–25 percent), and niacin (2–36 percent).
